Ugh, what happened to the nexus for the past ~6 hours?
It was down for quite a while.

Also, umby drop

Surge, say the magic words,
"The magic word is no."

Site's been unresponsive a lot longer than 6 hours.
THE SERVER LIVES!
It was down for almost 16 hours.

Looks like the provider above me took a pretty massive hit, all of their stuff was offline us included.

At the same time, everything appears to have come back up all by itself.

I wonder what the cause was... Not that it matters.
I'm just glad we didn't lose anything and that it didn't stay down!

Okay, so I love the bizzare names some people give Minecraft skins on planetminecraft.com.
Either they just have some kind of seizure with a bunch of letterlike characters at random spots in the name for no apparent reason, or the name is something nonsequitur and completely unrelated. My favorites are when the skin name is an entire sentence, sometimes even an unrelated philosophical-sounding quote. I mean seriously. I get it's hard to be unique when every other skin is called "cool teen in creeper hoodie" or "generic girl skin which looks unsurprisingly similar to every other generic girl skin on the website" but come on.
Also I've tried out 0.15 yesterday and I got this

Yeah, a merkava just did 1.6k damage on me with one shot, and I thought the cent 120 is pretty overpowered.

*insert link to that blog post I read a while ago about how the internet is just an increasing kludgepile of outdated 90's tech and all we're doing is training more and more people to maintain the disorder*
also, I've been looking at portions of the new Macross series(delta) and I wonder how practical/impractical to have a mech(japanese high mobility ones) to be able to shift their mobility/stance from humanoid to fighter jet/star fighter speeds and the one in between.

I've explained in depth why land-air mechs aren't even practical as a novelty before but for the sake of brevity I'll just ask how many systems a mech and jet share between them and how big the ones they don't share are.

well their "fighter mode" is just no more larger than our common twin engine fighters(being mostly inspired by the F-14's swing wing) and in humanoid form, slightly bigger. They share almost everything, as seen from this video

note, those arnt really your traditional terbofan jet engine,

a somewhat detailed tranformation in the form of their figures
I'm gonna be out of town and unavailable for the rest of the week so it'll take awhile for me to respond to any messages.

Both appear really expensive, 1.5-2x what it would cost me to build. Though if you are having this built by someone that would be why.

I would go with the 16GB of ram. SSDs get eaten by the swapfile if a system doesn't have enough ram in it, so plan on having 2x more ram than you actually will need. Of course it is possible to put the swapfile on the HDD instead, but this comes with a performance penalty.

On that note, I hear a lot of mixed reports about the Samsung SSDs. They don't like power outages for one thing, a badly timed power outage during the SSD wear levelling operation can cause a bsod or unbootable system because they lack the ability to deal with such issues.

I'd try putting a 250GB Corsair MX200 SSD in instead, this has data integrity functions to prevent data loss during a power failure
So I just played two rounds of Space Station 13.

It was magical. Although that might have been the rainbow cannabis.

Where are you buying this from? This seems very expensive.

I looked up all these parts on umart and they'd run you $1700-1800

Um. What?

Yep, in the second round I started as a botanist. I almost immediately cracked open the seed dispenser to allow us some of the more... exotic seeds. We got lucky with a few harvests that gave us the rainbow strain.  By the 20 minute mark, the most of Botany was too high to do anything useful.

Continuing on, the bar was nearby, and seeing how the only other working botanist left was dragging a friend down to the medics, I just wandered over while I got the "tripping balls" message near constantly. Then I had this idea: why don't I drink some of the bartender's concoctions (already a bad idea, they have a full chemistry lab back there) while still smoking weed?

I was in crit a minute later.

So I'm fading in and out of consciousness, dragging myself in the direction of medical, trying to say anything, when suddenly I start suffocating. I make a brief detour to a maintenance room to get on and oxygen mask, pick up a tank, and turn it on aaaand... Nothing. Because the hall wasn't being vented, the game was simulating my dumbest idea preventing me from getting oxygen to my cells. I finally remember my PDA has a medical emergency program just for when you can't even speak for help.

A medic shows up, wisks me away to the operating room, and immediately begins a number of injections to save my life. In the meantime, he has the same name as me ingame.

By this point there's no real reason to head back, as someone's playing a high-powered instrument of some sort over the intercom, and someone blew up part of the escape arm, so the escape shuttle is already on it's way. I end up in another maintenance area, put on emergency space gear, and start running the escape. With a minute left, I'm near the shuttle (after passing by a strange room filled with clones of someone riding a giant cat around like a horse), and my game freezes. I close it down, open it back up, and... I'm already on the shuttle. It's possible someone dragged me there. So it lifts off to victory.

Only, yep, the traitor's still alive, and he's throwing dangerous chemicals everywhere in the shuttle, so I lock myself in the cockpit with some other guys, trying to pat out the fire from my suit.

About a second after we win, an explosion kills everyone in the main body of the shuttle. As the game closes, I'm lying there, meters away from empty space, slowly dying, wondering if I should have kept another blunt.
