Just how many times have you cloned Rommel now?
Rommel being the brave fucker he is tried to tackle down the Viper King. However the King gets up to 14 moves per turn, on my turn. So as soon as he had line of sight he was yanked down the street, coiled, and out cold before anyone could react.

What actually happened? 'Cause usually vipers in general aren't that problematic.

Vipers I can handle, but we got bottle necked against a Viper KING. Every time I make a move he gets a move, so when somebody moves to fire he can either pull and bind them (1 action) and my next move will trigger the second tick from the bind which will knock the soldier unconscious, then he can freeze any clumps of soldiers he finds costing them at least a full turn of actions. Also he has like, 40 HP and 2 armor.

Basically unless he shows up when I have a valid static firing line in place he can wreck through and incapacitate the squad unopposed, and god knows a team of rookies with SMGs won't put a dent in him.

Yes, but Rommel's been around in... I assume this is still XCOM2... For a while now. Which means he should have far more than 1 kill, and far more than 1 mission. Assuming this is in fact the same Rommel we all know and love, who may or may not be the same Rommel we all know and love from Surge's XCOM: Enemy Unknown posts.

Which leads me to believe this is in fact a clone, and that the original Rommel is off on a well-deserved actual vacation.

No this is a new war so he had to reenlist and start from the bottom.

Jeez, what a weird way to structure your military. I guess it keeps things fresh?

Holy shit, okay yeah, I think I've seen one but I think there were also one or two sectopods and my squad was fucked before I got to fight it.

Well I mean if we disregard how many times I just start over in XCOM2 you gotta remember XCOM practically dissolved after unification, everyone went their separate ways except for Bradford and Shen who organized a few scattered scraps of XCOM under the resistance until I returned. So basically Rommel comes in with nobody to vouch that the Ukrainian named Erwin isn't insane but me, and my blessing alone does not afford him the first hand experience with this shockingly different war to perform to the levels you might expect of him. He'll get there though, he's been promoted to Field Medic which puts him in competition with Charlatan but no Spartan is a match for Rommel himself.

If you wanna get REALLY weird it's canon that my "victory" in EW was all an elaborate simulation ADVENT put me through while they had me in a stasis tank, so Rommel has no business even existing.

So... to make things make sense would Rommel have been known to the commander before his capture?

No he's just a bizarre product of the commander's imagination that turned out to actually exist.

I'd think because the community is full of assholes, the game is competitive to a point where it can turn nice people into cunts, quite a fair few champions are horribly broken and most people who play it are very full of themselves to a point where team play is painful. Those are my reasons though, everyone's seems to vary drastically.

Basically sums up why. I suppose I worded it badly:
I don't dislike anything special about LoL in particular. In fact, I find the characters, music, graphics, and all that jazz to be varying levels of cool. In fact, due to my cousin playing it a lot, I know more about it than I do most MOBAs.
I just cannot stand MOBA gameplay in the slightest... and that's the most important part of a game.

Fair enough. Any particular component of gameplay? I had such a bias until I actually tried it.

Well, my distaste for PvP in general might be a factor. It's never really appealed to me.
Secondly, the highly... I dunno, "structured" nature of MOBA gameplay. By that I mean something like (note: I have no idea if this is even viable in gameplay), people being told to take mid and that they can't play Cho'Gath because he's more suited to jungle, or something. Which ties into my third point:
The "community" and competetiveness. Nobody can just have fun. It's treated like life or death most of the time, and if anyone's game doesn't go perfect they're usually blamed for everyone's problems. People can be outright hostile, even to supposed teammates, and in general people take it FAR too seriously. I can understand that for professional tournaments and the like, but come on.

That's actually really well put. Pretty much exactly correct.
