Very well.

What else do you offer? I saw multiple roleplay threads, defunct minecraft server, lots of introductions.

Mostly just this general social thread, a few more specific content threads, and a roleplay thread. We aren't a big community.
I heard differently a while back, many inactive users on here.

What happened? That's one of the things my scanning isn't really bringing up.

They decided they had a better alternative to the forums and didn't need them anymore.

You have my attention I suppose. Tell me about it?

75% of users registered haven't logged in for over a week, quite unfortunate.

I'm not supposed to, partly because Ehks gets pissy and partly because it summons the drama hounds
Let's not start talking about this, please. Every time we do it breaks out into civil war drama.
I also quite like this 'days without drama' sign. This is the longest we've stayed in double digits.
Or is it triple digits? It's been quite a while.
Which is why I said I'm not supposed to!

Somehow, just talking about their new platform causes them to suddenly all teleport here to claim it's superiority and our forum's mediocrity. I don't know how it happens.
Oh boy...

If she's in charge then okay. Is private message allowed though?

Drama is a fact of life, it's going to happen.
Is the level of calm why this place is so sparsely populated?

(04-28-2016, 04:02 PM)OdinYggd Wrote: [ -> ]I was just going to say, real world battleships are often displaced visibly when firing more than one gun at a time. There's pictures of this about.

Naval ships usually mount triple guns for complexity and firing rate reasons, since the turret mechanism to rotate the gun for aiming is complex and heavy.

Turbolasers on the other hand would be a lot more energy intensive when firing, and fire at a much higher rate than projectile weapons do. Much of the advantage of a triple gun is lost, so the mechanism becomes smaller and lighter mounting a single turbolaser instead of a triple.

And now that I think about it, that's a glaring issue in Pirates of the Caribbean. When those ships fired a full broadside, there should have been visible displacement in the water beneath from the entire ship being shoved back by the blast.
what about non energy, kinetic projectile, like massive railguns? I'm sure these would work on massive multi gun turrets

They'd have a significant recoil too. Newton's third law. Most of the depictions I've seen of railguns describe them as slow firing but dealing massive damage with each shot. I would expect a lot of that reload time is letting the driver circuitry cool down and recharge.
I mean I have complained about the overzealous conflict aversion before but we have people who only come by to cause trouble and generally grief and they almost always log on for this subject.

Sounds prejudiced and pretentious and the like, but that's only one side of the story.

Wait...
If you don't want it discussed, why even bring it up.
Umbra and I don't want it publicly discussed, silver does his own thing.

To complete your verification, please answer the following 3 questions.

1. Does a set of all sets contain itself?

2. Evaluate the following: This statement is false.

3. What walks on 4 legs at dawn, 2 at midday, and 3 in the twilight.

You can log off any time you like but you can never leave.

..I came up with a very similar parody so long ago for a totally unrelated site. I suppose it is a reflection of the internet itself, you can log out any time you like. But you can never really leave!

That 75% almost certainly includes spambots who attack this place relentlessly. Not only are there multiple levels of verification needed to make sure that the new users aren't spammers, but any accounts that are registered and then do not post more than a couple of times in 90 days are deleted to keep the user list at a sane level. Its amazing how desperate a lot of spam operators are to distribute their garbage.

As for the people who decided to go elsewhere, that's their choice. They settled on a chatroom service that allows for much faster interaction than forums usually provide. I personally dislike that sort of scheme because it inevitably becomes a circlejerk that ends when the people involved get so tired of one another they start to fight and decide to leave. We basically don't talk about it at all on here anymore, since everyone makes their own choices in life and its better to just let things like that be as they are.

If you were being serious, you wouldn't be quoting Portal 2.

If I recall correctly, there's a weapon in Elite(dangerous?I only remember the old dos one) that shoots "heat sinks" at the enemy, maybe that could be a useful secondary for the railgun starship

I don't think you appreciate how complicated it is to remove, replace, and the forcefully eject a heat sink like that.
Alternatively.

An infinite set of numbers contains itself because it is itself, simple identity.

The statement is true because of the fact that it isn't necessarily self referencing , also liar paradox.

Riddle of the Sphinx, baby human walks on all four, adult on two, elderly on 3 if the cane counts.

Good. Because while they were used in portal2, they are in fact far older than that. And I'm pretty sure the sphinx riddle was not in Portal2, because AIs can solve that one a variety of ways assuming a sufficiently large knowledgebase.
